How Decron is Staying Up-To-Date with the latest in Laser Cutting Technology
One of the major services that Decron offers as part of our fabrication capabilities is laser cutting. We have been using laser cutters to bring out the beauty of metal for years, and we always strive to stay up to date with the latest advancements in laser cutting technology. One of our investments has been in fiber laser technology. We’ve just installed our third fiber laser cutter into our shop, and it’s currently up and running.
Fiber Laser Cutting–the latest in fabrication technology
Fiber laser cutting technology is the most recent innovation in laser cutting, using fiber optic cables to focus and amplify a high-power laser beam through the cutting head. The laser produces clean, precise cuts even on thicker or harder materials, while consuming less energy in the process. This type of laser is typically controlled by computer technology, offering much more efficient and accurate control of the laser, as well as improved reliability across multiple parts.
Fiber laser cutting is best suited for sheet metal fabrication applications, and it can accommodate a wide range of metals, including reflective materials that traditional CO2 lasers struggle to cut. At Decron, we use our lasers to cut steel, aluminum, stainless steel, and copper sheets into quality components, regardless of the complexity of their design.
This type of fabrication offers many different advantages in addition to its versatility and energy efficiency. The laser itself can easily adapt to different wavelengths, ranges, and speeds. It operates much more quickly than other types of lasers, and is also easier to set up, reducing down time and improving production efficiency. Though powerful, the laser does not pose a heat risk, eliminating the potential for warping or distortion that would cause parts to require further processing. Fiber laser cutters can achieve high quality results at much faster speeds and lower rates of material consumption–which helps reduce production costs.
